A perenial SEC and National powerhouse, the Alabama Crimson Tide Gymnastics Team is already working hard in the practice gym to prepare for the upcoming 2011 season. And you can help make this another successful year by joining the Medalist Club, the official fan organization that spearheads all booster events related to Crimson Tide Gymnastics.

First formed in 1987, The Medalist Club has seen its membership grow into one of the largest, most loyal fan groups in NCAA Division I Women's Sports. In 2010-11 we need to keep expanding our numbers and efforts on behalf of this great team of student-athletes.  Coaches Sarah and David Patterson, Bryan Raschilla and Dana Duckworth are already in the gym beginning to mold into shape a very young team that will include nine freshmen by season's start.

But first, just like the coaches, we all have a lot of work to do to help pull off another successful season of competition...and it starts with the direct support we can give them through the Medalist Club membership drive.  So, if you're thinking about joining up for the first time or renewing your current membership, here are some important facts to consider:

  • By joining The Medalist Club, you will get to attend and enjoy the "Members only" Receptions that will follow three (3) designated home meets during the regular season.  This is the best way to meet and get to know the gymnasts and coaches in a more personal way while relaxing with a tasty array of food and drink.   You also get the chance to chat with some of our more knowledgeable fans who are also Medalist Club members that voluntarily contribute to the program in substantial ways through Radio and Website online reporting during the meets, as well as other board members and fans who are ready and eager to dialogue with you about Crimson Tide Gymnastics.  What a great way to greet old friends and make new ones as you follow one of your favorite Crimson Tide sports!

  • Depending on your membership level, you will receive a Variety of Benefits, including the Newly Designed T-Shirt to wear with pride to each meet, as well as the pre- and post-season Newsletters that will provide detailed, informative perspectives on this year's team along with a scouting report of the competition.  The highly coveted Coleman Coliseum Parking Passes can be purchased at lower levels and are included as part of the packages in the Silver Medal or above levels, with Gold, Platinum and Ruby members receiving Autographed 2011 Media Guides as well.  The Post-Season Banquet is also sponsored by The Medalist Club and ticket(s) are included as part of the member's package.  Check out the [table below] for more specific details regarding benefits at each level.

  • Your Medalist Club membership also Benefits the Alabama Crimson Tide Gymnastics Team in more important ways.  As an example, The Medalist Club recently helped purchase a State-of-the-art Video Replay System for the Frances Smith Gymnastics Practice Facility, which will allow the coaches to remain at their designated workout area with the gymnast while reviewing their practice routines on one of three large LCD monitors mounted around the gymnasium. This will help give the program an extra edge in coaching and recruiting.

Other items purchased over the years have included the Game Ready Machine and attachments to help the gymnasts more quickly rehabilitate their injuries and return to the competition floor, as well as Furniture for the Gymnasts' Locker Room and Billboard Advertising to help promote local and state-wide attendance at meets.

Last, but not least, The Medalist Club is the only NCAA Division I gymnastics fan organization that provides Post-Graduate Scholarships for eligible student-athletes to pursue their graduate degree at the Capstone.  Outgoing 2009 senior Ashley O'Neal was awarded a $4500 scholarship from The Medalist Club at the season-ending banquet back in May that she will begin using this Fall.  Congratulations Ashley! And thank you Medalist Club loyal members for your continued support.
